Decoration Ceremony

On the occasion of Decorations Day at the Brigade Headquarters, a distinguished gathering of officers was present, as previously mentioned in our communications. The Chief Fire Officer delivered a profound address, underscoring the importance of discipline and invoking Allah’s blessings upon us all, expressing his desire to do even more in service of our community.

He emphasized our shared identity as creations of Allah, urging us to cultivate a spirit of forgiveness and goodwill toward one another. The Chief Fire Officer called for unity, encouraging us to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the nation and the Gambian people.

Promotions, he affirmed, are awarded on the basis of merit, with deserving individuals being recognized at this moment. Acknowledging that life is a process, he reassured that others may follow in due course. He further reiterated the importance of gender inclusivity within the GFRS, urging our female officers to embrace their responsibilities with dedication and to excel in their roles.

Special mention was made of certain officers who have generously used their personal resources to enhance the Brigade’s service delivery and mobilization efforts. This, the Chief Fire Officer noted, should serve as an inspiration for all of us to strive for greater contributions.

The promoted officers, he emphasized, have earned their new ranks, and it is now incumbent upon them to fully utilize this elevation in service to the taxpayers. The Chief Fire Officer also took this opportunity to offer prayers for the health of our sick personnel and for the eternal peace of the deceased.

The Deputy Chief Fire Officer echoed similar sentiments, congratulating the men and women of the Brigade and reminding us that with great power comes great responsibility.

According to the Assistant Chief Fire Officer Y. Sonko, the promoted officers, were challenged to uphold righteousness and trust in God’s will.

Senior Divisional Fire Officer Kinteh remarked on the waning regimentation within the fire service, expressing a desire for its revival. Meanwhile, Senior Divisional Fire Officer Susso emphasized that the promotions were predestined by God, facilitated through the Chief Fire Officer’s guidance. He cautioned that disrespecting one’s seniors would only lead to a lack of respect in return, urging all to honour the decisions of Allah.
